چکیده
In April 2013, a transect c. 1100 km long with 100 points arranged in 5 sections was designed northern Namibia between Ruacana Watefall (W) and Kongola (E) to study avian diversity relation gradual changes precipitation (c. 350 mm W c.600 E). total, 81 bird species were recorded all points, but particular section, the numbers low, ranging from 22 38 species. overall, most frequent numerous (dominant) following species: Cape Turtle Dove, Blue Waxbill, Grey-headed Sparrow, Laughing Dove Fork-tailed Drongo. Together they comprised 42.2 % of individuals recorded. All them, except for Drongo, granivores. Only nine ten or more points. Besides above-mentioned dominant species, other this group: Black-chested Prinia, Black-throated Canary, Pied Crow White-browed Scrub Robin. section number ranged 7, without gradient. Two remained fi ve sections. Th e Drongo — four sections, Sparrow three Although, no gradient diversity, evenness, dominance structure recorded, signifi cant diff erences two western eastern apparent. than sections: Robin Dove; while African Palm Swift , Crow.

Geochemical characterization of the forest loess soils along a precipitation gradient in Northern Iran
Introduction: The loess-paleosol sequences in Northern Iran are important archives represent several cycles of Quaternary climate change and can be used to complete the information gap on loess between Europe and central Asia. Loess geochemistry reflects paleoweathering conditions and it can be used to determine the nature and provenance of loess deposits. In the Caspian Lowlands, a pronounced...
متن کاملLoss of epiphytic diversity along a latitudinal gradient in southern Europe.
Latitudinal gradients that involve macroclimatic changes can affect the diversity of several groups of plants and animals. Here we examined the effect of a latitudinal gradient on epiphytic communities on a single host species (Fagus sylvatica) to test the core-periphery theory. The latitudinal span considered, covering two biogeographic regions, is associated with major changes in rainfall dur...
متن کاملBiotic mechanisms of community stability shift along a precipitation gradient.
Understanding how biotic mechanisms confer stability in variable environments is a fundamental quest in ecology, and one that is becoming increasingly urgent with global change. Several mechanisms, notably a portfolio effect associated with species richness, compensatory dynamics generated by negative species covariance and selection for stable dominant species populations can increase the stab...
متن کاملPatterns of distribution and plant diversity in along elevational gradient (Case study: Moghan-Sabalan rangelands)
The study of plant communities is the best way to learn about vegetation structure and distribution as well as various interactions among the plants in an ecosystem. Elevation factor plays a vital role in plant distribution that ultimately leads to specific phytogeographic regions. This study evaluated the changes in species composition, density, frequency, canopy cover and palatability of spec...
